July 17, 2024—More than 300 CFISD student-athletes qualified for the Academic All-District 16-6A and 17-6A boys’ and girls’ track and field teams.
All 12 high school programs were represented by the 317 students who earned the academic all-district recognition. Those who earned the honor finished the 2023-2024 season in good standing and earned a composite weighted grade point average of 5.5 or higher for all classes for the two identified six weeks that make up the majority of their regular season.
Cypress Park High School senior Sydnee Burr was named to the Academic All-District 16-6A and 17-7A track and field teams.
“The conclusion of the track season saw a record number of athletes reach the podium for their athletic excellence with the culminating state championships in Austin,” said Charles Ament, CFISD associate athletic director. “However, the academic excellence that the athletes displayed in the classroom is just as impressive. Congratulations to the student-athletes that are being recognized for their academic prowess. The dedication to the academic rigor is greatly appreciated and deserving of this recognition.”
